Dimapur 10 Feb: The NSCN/GPRN while reviewing the twelve years (12) clog up with the Ao community, places on record from the neutral standpoint, the facts and events that triggered off the crisis in the year 2002 and the resultant persisting impasse.
The precursor was the murder (torture to death) of an Ao lady, daughter of one missionary of Mokokchung village allegedly by the wife of her paramour Mhathung Lotha (now Kilonser in Khehoi Camp). While the atmosphere was simmering, the Chairman, Lotha region, then residing at Mokokchung town happened to test fire a newly procured AK rifle.
The test fire infuriated the local residents and in no time the entire Ao’s of Mokokchung transformed them-selves to “frenzied mob baying for Lotha’s blood” and two unfortunate Lotha national workers were lynched on the spot.
The conflagration was rapidly becoming inter-tribal between Ao and Lotha community, however, the covert participation and patronage by some prominent politicians and public leaders, instead of diffusing the inferno rerouted the riot against NSCN/GPRN and the rest became history.
Since then, the Ao tribe declared non-cooperation to the NSCN/GPRN, the affirmation continues to be maintained hitherto with several efforts for reconciliation both formal and informal proven futile.
The NSCN/GPRN espouses equal partnership of every Naga tribe big or small in the course of our journey for “Sovereignty”. Similarly, transgression upon Naga political struggle by any individual tribe or community shall never be a cause for NSCN/GPRN to renege on our commitment.
The NSCN/GPRN sincerely honours the unremitting sacrifices of Ao workers in the struggle despite anti-NSCN/GPRN attitude, stance and actions of one’s own community.
With the struggle entering into crucial stage and seriously viewing the unrelenting stand of the Ao tribe led by Ao Senden and supported by Ao’s apex organisations, the NSCN/GPRN places on record that, henceforth, the Ao as a tribe in general shall be treated as expunged in both the content and context of Naga political struggle under NSCN/GPRN.
Every administrative and military units spread across Naga inhabited territories are directed thereof to cease entertaining any Ao organisation starting from Ao Senden down to grass root levels in any situations, crisis or issues.
