State govt welcomes summit

DIMAPUR, SEP 21 (EMN): The State Cabinet, in its meeting held at Kohima on Tuesday, September 21, has welcomed the signing of the commitment of the September Summit
by the top leaders of the Naga Nationalist groups – NSCN-IM, NSCN-K and the NNC.
‘The commitment of the leaders of the Naga Nationalist groups to reconcile, based on the historical and political rights of the Nagas, and their agreeing for cessation of all hostilities, including territorial expansion against each other, is a major step towards the achievement of unity, understanding and oneness amongst all sections of Naga society, which is the desire of all Nagas’, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said in a communiqué.
He also assured that the DAN Government, as an active facilitator, continues to support the journey of common hope which is aimed at bringing about understanding and unity in the Naga society and will pave the way for achievement of lasting peace.
The Cabinet extended its appreciation to the civil societies, the Naga Hoho and all other tribal Hohos, the churches, NGOs and mass based organisations and the FNR for their tireless efforts towards reconciliation and oneness of Naga society.
It further appealed to the various groups and organisations to remain steadfast in their commitments, and not to allow any factor to destroy the hard earned peace that have been achieved through the collective efforts of the Naga people.
