NSCN (IM) on “commercial tax”
Dimapur, January 26: The NSCN (IM) today issued a note addressed to all business establishments in and around Dimapur and Kohima towns stating that it has not approved any individual or group to collect what it asserted as “commercial tax.” This is for the “fiscal year” 2010-2011, a note from the NSCN (IM) secretary of “ministry of chaplee affairs” declared. All business establishments are “cautioned to refrain themselves from paying commercial tax to any individual/group until further notice/order,” the note stated. The group further cautioned that “anyone found paying the aforementioned tax to unauthorized group/person(s) before an official notification for the same would be doing so at their own risk.” The faction would “term it as null and void and necessary action imposed upon any defaulter,” by what the note called “the government.”
