NPO calls for restraint

The Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) has appealed to all the Naga armed factions to exercise maximum restraint and requested the groups to bring “an end to all further bloodshed.”

A press statement issued from Senapati District on Sunday and signed by NPO president M.L. Markson said that “Any attempt by any Naga revolutionary group to jeopardize and disturb the ongoing Naga reconciliation process in the backdrop of positive Indo-Naga peace talk is unacceptable and detrimental to peaceful solution”.

The NPO has also strongly condemned the killing of NSCN (I-M) cadres and an innocent driver by Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) near Taosang and Leishok, Nungba sub-division in Tamenglong district.

The statement said the NPO “is against any escalation of the present situation and appeals for immediate end to offensives from both the camps.”

The party expressed its dismay in the way “some armed groups continue to profess violent means against their own bothers rather than joining the much appreciated reconciliation process.”
