DIMAPUR, July 25: The Naga Hoho has expressed ‘deep concern’ at the promulgation of 144 CrPC and militarization of Ukhrul town.
“We are deeply concerned over the militarization of Ukhrul Town by deployment of huge Manipur Police Commandos and IRB and promulgation of 144 CrPC which has disturbed the peace and tranquility of the Town,” a statement issued by the Publicity cell said.
“This warlike situation should be done away with immediately. We believe it will not be the interest of all stakeholders to disturb peace. Peace has slowly and gradually been returning in the Naga areas after the declaration of ceasefire with the GOI,” the apex Naga body stated.
It stated that the Hoho has been tirelessly working with utmost sincerity to bring peace and tranquility for the Naga people and added, “we are against any form of violence and killing in our society.”
The Hoho, in this regard, drew the attention of Government of Manipur and Government of India to see that peace, tranquility and normalcy be restored in Ukhrul Town in the interest of the peace loving people.
