Kohima, August 10: Chairman of the Public Affairs Committee (PAC) for the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), KV Pusa has called upon the Government of India to expedite the ongoing Naga Peace Process between the GoI and the NSCN (IM).
KV Pusa, while welcoming the Government of India’s move to appoint RN Ravi as the new interlocutor for the peace talks, however stated that merely appointing interlocutors one after another would not resolve the issue. He insisted that both sides should expedite the talks with sincere efforts so as to bring about a logical conclusion to the protracted Naga Political issue. Pusa further stated that any solution between the two parties should be based on historical facts of the Naga Political issue.
It was informed that Pusa had met a host of Indian policymakers, including former Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and Congress President, Sonia Gandhi several times and urged them to expedite the peace process and facilitate a solution, which would be honorable and acceptable to the people. He had also met leaders from Manipur state “to soften their rigid stand on Naga Political issue.”
The Congress leader informed that he will soon convene a Public Action Committee meeting to discuss the latest developments in the peace process. However, he stated that merely meeting Indian leaders time and again to expedite the process would not resolve the issue and asserted that there has to be progress in the talks. He however did not rule out the possibility of the PAC meeting central leaders.
