Displaced persons stage sit-in-protest at Kisama
Kisama, May 21 : The displaced persons from Mao Gate, now taking shelter at the Naga Heritage Village Kisama in the aftermath of May 6 incident today staged sit-in- protest here this morning.
“Our land belongs to us (Ura Uve),” “We want sincerity from G.O.I,” “We are not Manipuris We are Nagas,” “Go back Manipur Commandos/IRB We want to go home,” “ Do not separate our birth right,” “ We are Nagas ‘n’ we want freedom,” read among the many placards displayed by the displaced persons at the sit-in- protest.
Holding a placard on her hand, a student of class V, Athini said “I want to go home but I am afraid of Manipur Commandos.”
Kaihrü Pfoze, a graduate student at the camp said though they want to go home there is lot of tense and trauma. He stated that cultivation time is coming, but the people unable to carry the plantation activities. He also said that lot of vegetables like cabbage, carrot, potato lying unharvest, which is the main source of income for the people.
Presently, there are nearly 500 displaced persons taking shelter at the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama. Several organizations and individual have been extending relief materials in the form of cash and kind to the displaced persons here.
Besides, water supply and power are also being provided at satisfactory result. Police beat and medical booth also set up here.
